What is a URL?

As you are reading this text, you already have an internet web browser open.  In the web browser location bar featured near the top of the browser, you should see something starting with http:// or to be precise, you should be looking at

http://www.slicedbanana.co.uk/index.php/faq/what_is_a_url/

This is the URL.  If you want to get really technical then URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.  This is also sometimes referred to as an "address" or more commonly known as a "web address".

The http://  part can be left out due to the fact that this is always placed in front of the web address.

The great thing about having a websiteis that you can easily and effortlessly direct people to your website by quoting your URL so if they have any questions, it can be found there.  Sending a fax for more information is a thing of the past!
